Tenzin Gyalpo alais Michael is a good friend of mine since my school and college years to this day. As a child, I still remember how he would entertain us with his Mithun’s Pyar Jukta Nahin’s heart-rending romantic songs, Jeetendra’s Mawalli Dance numbers and Johny Lever’s mimicry skills etc in our hostel rooms. In those days of scarcity and poverty, Michael’s acts were a big entertaining moments for us poor school kids. He was in fact our Mithun, Jeetendra and Kumar Gaurav. Looking back it strangely intrigues me to see how his Kumar Gaurav like hairstyle and good looks have diminished somehow. For all the talents of a smart entertainer that he was in our closed rooms he was unimaginably simple, dull and lethargic in front of the entire school especially the teachers and the girls.

--- I also vividly remember how pleased and happy we used to be to have him as our chogpon (Room incharge), being always kind, helpful and jolly in sharp contrast with other bossy and rude chogpons.

--- Tenzin Gyalpo has also saved me on numerous occasions of cultural show programmes during my college days especially at the Teacher Training College where I successfully presented Tibetan, English, Nepali, Hindi and Kanada songs taught and guided by him- the tricks, harkat, alap etc that goes in the making of a melodious songs.

--- As his ardent fan too, I have been keeping track of his progress as a singer, comedian and an entertainer as a whole. It was a great feeling to observe how he has grown up over the years and emerged as a major entertainer in the Tibetan exile community. I believe this is because of his undying passion for music and his hard work, enterprising instinct and the adventurous spirit; to move on whatever the difficulties. His self-belief, inquisitive nature, innovative urge and the strong desire to produce his music and entertain people, I believe, has brought him to his present stature.

--- His affable good nature, good public relations and numerous public performances has made him and the Tibetan Army Band popular amongst the Tibetan Community. As a good human being, he has also earned many friends and well-wishers and I pray he remains the same for us all and for Tibet.

--- He is unique act in the sense that he is a multi-talented entertainer with lots of scope in future. I believe the best of him is still to come. I will wait to rock further in your beautiful music and roll in your humors.
